In her past jobs as foreign minister in her native country or as the 73rd president of the United Nations General Assembly, Ecuadorian diplomat María Fernanda Espinosa probably saw it all. What she hasn’t seen? Enough women at the top of global financial institutions.

From central, regional, or finance banks right through to some of the most powerful organizations like the World Bank, Espinosa, who is now executive director of GWL Voices, calls out the lack of representation.

But this is not just about the optics, she says, or even just about having a seat at the table. It’s about changing the rules of the game. Giving women the opportunity to rebuild the table.

She spoke to The Fuller Project at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Sevilla.
